Urban Survival Tips – Five Scenarios and How to Stay Alive

Urban survival is more complicated than any other survival situation but staying alive is extremely possible. The key is to have a plan and to be prepared so, here are some scenarios and tips on how to survive them.

Natural Disaster

Natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes really occur in the city or any place, for that matter. Furthermore, you may want to participate in earthquake drills in your locality because they teach almost everything in there. The key to surviving a natural disaster is awareness and preparation so you’ll know what to do when it happens.

Daily Life

Life in the city is a constant survival situation especially if you reside in a big one. It is densely populated and there are crimes everywhere. The first thing you need to learn is self-defense so you’ll know how to fight or disarm someone when you get attacked. Being street smart will also help you survive your daily life in the city.

Economic Crash

We may not have seen an economic collapse happen but they are in our history books and a very good example is the Great Depression. A scarcity of resources is very likely to happen so, you may see people fighting a piece of bread and the like. Money is going to be useless at this time which is why stocking on supplies and learning urban survival tips and skills are your tools to stay alive.

Disease Outbreak

This scenario has happened a lot of times in some parts of the world because viruses always mutate. In cases like this, it is better to stay at home and you also need to ensure that you have enough water, medicines, and disinfectant. If you can’t avoid going out, always make sure to wear a face mask to prevent yourself from catching the virus.

Terrorist Attack

Terrorists love big cities because, as we have mentioned, they are densely populated. This is a very difficult and scary situation to be in but surviving is possible. The first thing you need to do is to get away from the scene and call the police.

If in case you can’t flee the scene, make sure your phone is in silent mode, if you have one, and you need to hide. It is extremely important that nobody can see you and it is best if you stay on the ground so that in case a terrorist is walking around, it would be easy for you to play dead.

Final Words

Aside from the ones we have mentioned, it is essential for you to have an urban survival bag. The things you should have in here are somewhat similar to what’s in a BOB but this one’s smaller, lighter and the things in it have a more specific purpose.

Moreover, the skills you are learning today may not be of use yet but any survivalist knows that it is important to be prepared at all times. The scenarios, except daily life, have a small chance of happening; however, it wouldn’t hurt if you know what to do in case they occur.
